The World Is Against You (TWIAY), the brainchild of songwriter Thomas Waddington, is a solo project that merges shoegaze’s ethereal textures with post-punk’s raw intensity. While Waddington crafts all music and lyrics, the live incarnation of TWIAY is brought to life by collaborators Rhys Hicks, David Hurnen, Ezra Beckett, and Stefan Jenkins.

The band recently debuted live on April 26, 2025, at Wellington’s Newtown Community Centre, sharing the stage with acts like Molipane, King Hit, and Mall Goth. Presented by Glass Head, the event highlighted Wellington’s thriving underground scene and sold out quickly, signaling strong local demand for TWIAY’s immersive sound.
